        Melodorum fruticosum, commonly known as the white cheesewood (Thai: Lamduan flower), is named Melodorum fruticosum Lour and is a plant of the Annonaceae family native to Southeast Asia. It is one of the two species considered the national flower of Cambodia. It is also the provincial flower of Sisaket Province, Thailand.

        Melodorum fruticosum blooms are pale yellow, similar to the Cestrum nocturnum flower fragrance, and have a cooled honey aroma. They bloom in the leaf axils at the ends of the branches. A flower has thick and hard petals consisting of three sepals, three outer petals that spread out, and three inner petals that close together like a bud and are arranged alternately. The stamens are barely visible because the inner petals enclose them, but the flower has the same stamens as any other flower, consisting of many stamens and about 10 to 25 ovaries. Fully blooming flowers have a diameter of roughly two centimeters.

        The flowers produced fruit in round clusters with 10–25 fruits with smooth surfaces and long stems. Each fruit’s diameter is about 0.6 centimeters. It is green and turns black when ripe. Melodorum fruticosum fruits have a sweet and sour taste that is edible.

        The leaves of Melodorum fruticosum are arranged alternately. The leaves are oblong or lanceolate oval-shaped with a pointed tip at the end, shiny green, and the underside of the leaves is light green. They are about 2 to 4.5 centimeters wide and 5 to 12 centimeters long. The young shoots and young leaves are reddish, the leaf tips are pointed, the leaf edges are smooth, and the leaf bases are tapering or rounded. Young shoots and leaves are red, with pointed leaf tips, soft edges, and tapering or rounded leaf bases. The tree reaches a height between 8 and 12 meters
