Guaiacum is a genus of flowering plants in the caltrop family Zygophyllaceae. Guaiacum officinale flowers are five-petaled and blue. The flowers grow in clusters at the ends of the branches and have a small, finely hairy calyx. As the flowers fade, they turn paler shades, and some may become almost white. It includes five species of slow-growing trees and shrubs that can reach a height of about 20 meters.
