Description
Lisianthus, also known as prairie gentian or Eustoma grandiflorum, is a genus of flowers that are similar to roses and peonies. Lisianthus petals are delicately flat or slightly curved and may come in bicolor variations. Lisianthus flowers are funnel-shaped and measure 2–3 inches (5–7.5 cm) in size. They have a deeply cupped center with short yellow stamens and pistils. Lisianthus flowers are bell-shaped with ruffled petals and come in many colors, including white, blue, purple, and pink.
Lisianthus calyx has five sepals. They are long-thin and fused close to the base. They are smaller than their wide, ruffled petals, and a mature flower has five sepals.
Lisianthus leaves are dark green, lance-shaped, and slightly fleshy. They are bluish-green and slightly succulent. The Lisianthus leaves are assembled on the branches of the Lisianthus plant, with small to large leaflets at every node. Leaves look like a white waxy substance is coating them, and each leaf is held opposite the stems.
